Michele Aitchison

My paintings explore the space between abstract and representational. I build visual relationships inspired by nature and compose based on how I'm feeling in the moment. My work ranges from vibrant to subtle, and I am drawn towards the interplay of natural elements and geometric shapes. From that, the work evolves into something more intuitive and atmospheric. I consider this process an Active Meditation, a dialogue between myself and the surface, where layers open pathways to new realizations. I am inspired by beauty, presence, and the feeling of connection that comes from following where the work leads. Painting is both my guide and my lifelong practice—an ongoing pursuit of meaning, clarity, and a deeper understanding of myself.
