Visionary biomechanical paintings — four decades of genre-defining work.
Visionary biomechanical paintings — four decades of genre-defining work.
Contemporary botanical and abstract work — guided by nature and motion.
Painterly landscapes, skies, and objects — from simple to fantastical
At the center of what I do is the wish to convey a feeling — awe, beauty, longing, something warm and luminous. Shaped by nature, the old masters, and four decades in the tattoo world, my paintings range from observational still life and landscape to fantastical inner worlds where nature's truths meet wilder flights of fancy.
My paintings explore the space between abstract and representational. I'm drawn to the interplay of natural elements and geometric form, where the work evolves organically and intuitively. I think of painting as an active meditation: a dialogue between myself and the surface.
I have been painting for as long as I can remember. Growing up in a creative household, art has always felt natural. I observe the world closely — local flora and fauna, light and shadow — and weave in the surreality of a dream.
Gallery 111 is a family-run art space in the historic arts district of Marion, Illinois. We represent our own work alongside local and regional artists whose vision resonates with ours — spanning representational to abstract, with a focus on nature, observation, and art that carries a sense of presence and connection.
In 2025, we created a 30' x 50' mural on the side of our building as a visible expression of our creativity and belief that art makes a community more vibrant.
Gallery 111 is currently operating online while our physical space in Marion takes shape. We hope to open in late summer 2026. Join our mailing list to receive updates as we prepare to open our doors.
Gallery 111 is currently under construction in the historic arts district of Marion, Illinois. While the space takes shape, the Aitchisons are in the studio — painting, preparing, and building toward an inaugural exhibition that will mark the opening of the gallery.
We are aiming to open in August 2026, though the final timeline will follow the construction. When the doors open, the work will be ready.
